Advanced Dental Technology

Digital CT Imaging

A Digital CT imaging system provides quick, comfortable, and enhanced dental imaging for the most accurate diagnosis possible. This allows three-dimensional data for:

  • Dental implants
  • Wisdom teeth extractions
  • Impactions
  • TMJ treatment
  • Airway assessments and sleep apnea
  • Full facial and jaw 3D images

CT Scans also provide benefits to you, the patient:

  • Each scan only takes a few seconds to provide enough data for a complete diagnosis
  • Less radiation than traditional Xray machines
  • It’s not a claustrophobic experience, but open and relaxing
  • Allows us to offer services for less money
  • Dr. Narang and staff have a very detailed image to educate you on your specific treatment

Sunrise Dental of Redmond is pleased to offer digital CT imaging for patients who receive dental treatment. Come and see for yourself what it’s like to receive a more advanced, patient-friendly dental experience.

Intraoral Camera

While the CT machine allows us to view the inner-health of your teeth, bone, and gums, an intraoral camera is a tremendous tool that lets you see what we see, LIVE on the screen in front of you. Although you don’t have to watch, we have found most patients benefit greatly from the additional knowledge gained from seeing what the dentist is talking about. The cameras are small, you won’t even know we’re using them.

Digital Impressions

If you haven’t been to a dentist in a while, things have changed for the better! No more goop, gagging, or discomfort. In Issaquah, Sunrise Dental uses the latest in digital technology, Dr. Narang or any of the other doctors can take highly accurate digital impressions of your teeth. This new procedure ensures a more detailed and accurate impression from the beginning, resulting in improved treatment and more comfortable patient experience. Digital impressions give you the ability to see your teeth instantly in 3D, improving communication during the consultation and treatment process.

Our digital impression scanner captures the structure of the teeth and gums using the latest optical technology. The scanner is a compact, hand-held wand. Once your dentist begins the scanning process, it can be stopped and started as many times as necessary.

Your mouth is scanned with a radiation-free laser, and in as little as two to three minutes, renders a digitally perfect, 3D impression of your teeth and soft tissue structures. Through digital software, you’ll then be able to follow the progress of the scans including a three-dimensional model of your teeth on our computer screen. Digital impressions can be used for any restorative treatment including crowns, veneers, inlays/onlays, bridges, implants, and orthodontic treatments, including Invisalign®.

Digital X-Rays

Using the most advanced dental technology possible is just as important as staying up-to-date on the latest treatment techniques. Because our practice is dedicated to providing you with the safest and most convenient treatment options available, we utilize advanced digital X-ray technology in our office.

Digital X-rays provide several advanced imaging options designed to save time, provide clearer dental photos, and expose patients to less radiation than traditional X-ray technology.

Our practice is focused on making your dental experience as comfortable as possible. At your next appointment, we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Intraoral Camera

A Clear Vision of Your Dental Health

You know the importance of prevention when it comes to your dental health, and we’re always looking for new, improved ways to help you achieve a healthy smile for life. While X-rays provide valuable information, they don’t give a complete view of everything that is going on inside your mouth. With the use of an intraoral camera, we can see every aspect of your teeth and mouth with incredible detail, uncovering cracked teeth, plaque deposits, cavities next to fillings, and excessive wear. When we can discover oral problems early on, your treatment is much less invasive and much more cost effective.

Our intraoral camera is small, about the size of the mirror we use during your regular hygiene appointments. You probably wouldn’t even notice we’re using it, except that with the intraoral camera, you have the opportunity to see everything we see on a monitor. This is a great tool to help you become more informed about your dental health, as it gives you a clear understanding of your teeth’s condition, and it allows you to make a more informed decision regarding your treatment options.

i-CAT® 3D Imaging

  • Dental implants
  • Wisdom teeth extractions
  • Impactions
  • TMJ treatment
  • Airway assessments and sleep apnea
  • Full facial and jaw 3D images

You can take advantage of a more complete dental treatment with i-CAT imaging. Its innovative features include:

  • One 20-second scan that provides your doctor with enough data for a complete diagnosis
  • A safer diagnosis with less radiation than traditional CT scanners
  • Increased comfort: patients are seated in an open environment with plenty of space
  • Doctors can easily share the data with patients, so that patients can stay informed and are able to make educated decisions on their course of treatment

Laser Dentistry

Laser therapy in dentistry provides patients with a more comfortable dental treatment experience. Using laser dentistry, your dentist is able to deliver a precise treatment that is more comfortable, quicker, and provides more stunning results.

Benefits of Laser Therapy

There are several benefits to receiving a laser therapy dental treatment.

  • Many laser treatments do not require anesthesia, and the recovery time is much quicker than with traditional treatment methods.
  • Treatments are more comfortable.
  • There is less potential chance of bacterial infection because laser treatments are so precise.

Two Types of Laser Dentistry

There are two different types of laser dentistry: hard tissue and soft tissue. Hard tissue includes treatments such as cavity detection, dental fillings, and tooth sensitivity improvements. Soft tissue treatments include gum reshaping, gum surgery, and muscle attachment improvements.

Procedures such as removing benign oral tumors, regenerating nerves, overcoming sleep apnea, whitening teeth, and treating TMD are also considered laser dentistry treatments.

Velscope® Oral Cancer Screening

Velscope Oral Cancer Screening System

More than 480,000 new cases of oral and throat cancers are diagnosed each year, and over 35,000 of those cases are right here in the United States. Oral cancer kills one person every hour in the U.S., and without proper detection methods, a person may have oral cancer and not even know it. In almost all cases of oral cancer, early detection plays a major role in a patient’s chances of survival. By diagnosing and treating oral cancer early, a patient’s five-year survival rate is 80-90% greater.

Risk Factors for Oral Cancer include:

  • Frequent use of tobacco products (cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco)
  • Excessive consumption of alcohol
  • Genetics (a family history of oral cancer or any type of cancer)
  • Excessive exposure to the sun at a young age

While men above the age of 50 are typically at the most risk for oral cancer, there has been a recent increase in the number of women with oral cancer due to a connection between oral cancer and the human papillomavirus (HPV-16).

How Velscope Works

The VELscope screening system consists of a specialized white light source and viewing scope that make it easier for your doctor to look closely at the tissues inside your mouth. Normal tissues will almost glow a bright green color. Abnormal tissue shows up much darker under the special light.

An abnormal screening does not always mean that the patient has cancer. If an abnormal screening occurs, your doctor may schedule a second scan later to see if the dark spots disappear, or may choose to perform a gentle, non-invasive brush biopsy to make sure it’s not cancer.
